Precision is a brand of the not-for-profit health insurer Western Provident Association Limited (WPA).
More than 115 years ago, WPA began as the Reading Working Peoples’ Voluntary Hospital Contributory Fund. Nearly half a century before the creation of the NHS, the Fund provided workers the option to pay a portion of their wage into the Fund each week. Members could then access the Fund at times of ill health. This type of insurance was a precursor to what we now know to be health cash plans.
DELOS is WPA’s autonomous operating system – using prompts rather than scripts, it digitally augments decisions. Meaning that any member of staff can confidently serve our customers by answering any question, on any scheme. DELOS is providing our customers with enhanced levels of quality, accuracy and certainty.
Built with the latest machine learning and AI technologies at its heart are clinical algorithms, correlating more than twenty million variables of symptoms, diagnoses and treatment options. With 5,000 different symptoms, 10,000 different diagnoses, 226 different bespoke policies, 15,000 hospitals and specialists that can invoice for over 100,000 different items there are billions and billions of different combinations.
We take the security of our members' information very seriously. As one of the first UK insurance companies to achieve the internationally recognised Information Security Management standard, we do everything possible to protect sensitive information from unauthorised access.
We work hard to protect our members at all times. So even if something unexpected happens to us, like a fire, we can still continue to operate as usual. We are proud to have achieved full accreditation for Business Continuity Management, meaning our members can always rely on us no matter what might happen.
We keep our standards of service extremely high by continually and critically reviewing what we do. We provide the highest levels of customer service and are independently certified as meeting the standards for Quality Management Systems on a company-wide basis.
We invest in systems and services to reduce waste of our natural resources. The paper we use is made up of fibre sourced from well-managed forests, independently certified according to the rules of the Forest Stewardship Council. We have been awarded the Environmental Management standard - one of the highest benchmarks in environmental management and best practice.
